BANK OF AFRICA conducts a carbon assessment for the second consecutive year

BANK OF AFRICA is fully aware of the stakes in the combat against climate change. For this reason, in what was a watershed year in 2015, it voluntarily made a commitment to measuring its greenhouse gas emissions (GGE).

The Bank’s 2016 carbon assessment shows that it had reduced its CO₂ emissions by 7% per employee. The assessment takes into account the main direct and indirect emissions under three different scopes: Scopes 1, 2 & 3 (energy consumption, property, plant and equipment, procurement, transporting funds, business travel and waste recycling).

The process of calculating its greenhouse gas emissions was implemented in accordance with the ISO 14064 and 14069 standards and with the help of the GGE Assessment solution introduced in 2013 by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, which is modelled on ADEME’s Carbon Assessment Methodology.
